First Year Student
Advisor: Rebecca Schlegel
Gabriella is currently in her first year of pursuing her doctorate in Social and Personality Psychology under the advising of Dr. Rebecca Schlegel and studying as a Dr. Avilés-Johnson Research Fellow. Her research interests focus on how different emotional states and attitudes towards the self influence feelings of authenticity. She has been particularly interested in the ways emotional expression and suppression influence meaning making, well-being, and sense of self.
Gabriella graduated Summa Cum Laude with her Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Arizona majoring in Psychology and minoring in Human Development and Family Science in 2023. As an undergraduate student, she was awarded the opportunity to work as a Ronald E. McNair Scholar with Dr. Daniel Sullivan in the Cultural-Existential Psychology Laboratory at the University of Arizona. As a McNair Scholar she worked simultaneously as an undergraduate research assistant and independent researcher where she was able to generate her own research project that was published in May 2024 in Arizona Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies. She also was invited to co-author for one of his major projects on collectivized suffering.
